Berkeley Painting Club - Teen Creative Drawing
Students learn specific skills and techniques, including line, shadow, and tone with sumi ink; color theory with alcohol markers and colored pencils; hand lettering; image and text; composition; and page design. Experimental and mixed-media processes such as collage are also introduced. Projects may include character development and turnarounds, storyboarding, sequential drawing, comics, zines, posters, and artist books.
Demonstrations and structured projects introduce new techniques, while longer independent projects give students room to combine and expand on these skills to create work that reflects their own ideas and experiences. New projects each session make the class appropriate for both new and returning students.
Students can develop original projects into finished small editions, with opportunities to submit work to local zine and art book fairs. Once a year, students will also have the opportunity to exhibit their work in a one-day gallery exhibition. All supplies are provided.
