Berkeley Painting Club - Teen Creative Drawing

Creative Drawing: Comics & Zines is a studio class for students who want to take their drawing further through comics, zines, and visual storytelling. Students learn how to develop characters, write stories, plan out scenes, and combine images and words to create their own comics and illustrated books.

Students work with ink, alcohol markers, and other materials while learning techniques such as line work, cross-hatching, and layering. They also explore color, composition, and how to design effective pages and layouts. Students will work on character design and turnarounds, storyboarding, panel layouts, zine-making, and book formatting. Through hands-on projects, demonstrations, group discussions, and individualized instruction, students develop their own ideas while building practical drawing and storytelling skills.
