In the first half of the course the students will work on fun projects in landscape and still life to explore color mixing and paint handling. In the second half of the class students can choose their own subject matter and explore what is interesting to them. Some students will continue to work on still life and landscape while others try figures, portraits, or other creative projects. The instructor will support them while they develop more substantial work as the course progresses. We will also talk about how historical and contemporary artists incorporated their personal experiences and concepts into their work and how the students can bring their own unique perspectives into their artwork.
