This class will cover acrylic painting techniques and concepts with an emphasis on realistic painting.  It is designed for beginners who are interested in learning technical painting skills.

In the first half of the course the students will work on assigned projects in landscape and still life to explore color mixing and paint handling.  In the second half of the class students can choose their own projects and explore what is interesting to them.  Some students will continue to work on still life and landcape while others can explore the figure or portraits from photos that they select.  This class will encourage students to work hard and learn the necessary technical skills so that they are able to bring their own ideas to life as the course moves forward.  They will also learn about how historical and contemporary artists incorporated their personal experiences and perspectives into their work and how they developed their work over time.
