Berkeley Painting Club - Drawing with Pastel
Drawing with Pastels explores the rich color, luminous surfaces, and expressive possibilities of soft pastel through observational work from still life, landscape, and other subjects. Students will learn techniques for layering, blending, edge control, and creating vibrant color while developing a confident approach to this versatile medium. Demonstrations and individualized instruction emphasize light, form, composition, and color relationships, helping students create expressive, finished drawings.

Suitable for students with some drawing experience, this class welcomes both those new to pastel and those looking to deepen their skills. No previous experience with pastel is necessary, but students should have prior experience with observational drawing and color mixing.  No class Oct 16 or Nov 28.

Students will need to bring their own set of soft pastels, sanded pastel paper, and pastel pencils.  Pastels must be soft, not medium or hard.  Please check in before class to make sure your supplies will work if you are unsure!
