Berkeley Painting Club - DIY Fashion
DIY Fashion is a hands-on class for teens who love making things and want to explore the creative possibilities of fabric, thread, and stitch. Blending traditional techniques with contemporary art and sustainable design, students will learn a range of hand-sewing skills while creating projects that are both imaginative and functional.

Projects include decorative embroidery, visible mending, and upcycled clothing that transforms secondhand garments into one-of-a-kind art pieces. Students will experiment with texture, color, and construction while building confidence with hand stitching, embellishment, and simple design techniques. This class uses minimal machine sewing, with the emphasis on thoughtful craftsmanship, creative problem-solving, and the expressive potential of handmade work.

Whether creating whimsical designs or giving new life to old clothes, students will develop practical skills, discover their own style, and leave with a collection of unique, handcrafted pieces.

Students can bring their own clothing for upcylcling or altering.  All other supplies are provided.
