Berkeley Painting Club - Teen Creative Drawing
Creative Drawing for Teens guides participants from observational drawing skills into a range of mixed-media techniques. The series opens with a hands-on lesson in binding, where students create a personal sketchbook to use throughout the course, then moves into observational drawing, sharpening skills in proportion, light, form, and composition while exploring concepts like negative and positive space. Later sessions build on these skills with collage and mixed-media layering, relief stamping, and work with zines and comics as narrative art forms — inviting experimentation with traditional and unconventional materials alike. Designed for inquisitive and motivated young artists, the class emphasizes craftsmanship, thoughtful risk-taking, and the development of an individual artistic voice within a supportive studio environment, with demonstrations, discussions, and individualized instruction to sharpen both technical ability and creative ideas. The class closes with a final project in each student's chosen medium, followed by a group reflection on the work created throughout the course. All supplies are provided..
